Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom or reduced motion. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Here’s what we do, what we haven’t done yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

What we do

  • Pages are plain HTML and CSS, with no scripts of our own, so nothing pops up and nothing moves your focus by itself.
  • Each page is split into parts with headings and labelled regions, so a screen reader can jump between them.
  • Every link works with a keyboard and shows a clear ring when it has focus.
  • Links and buttons on a line of their own are at least 44 pixels tall and wide, so they’re easier to tap.
  • We check the contrast between text and what it sits on, including text you select.
  • Our code goes through automated accessibility checks with every change.
  • Nothing on this site makes a sound.

Using this site with a keyboard, screen reader or zoom

  • The first press of Tab offers “Skip to content”, which takes you straight past the menu.
  • Tab and Shift+Tab move between links, and Enter follows one. In Safari on a Mac, turn on “Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage” in Safari Settings > Advanced, or hold Option as you press Tab.
  • On a computer, pages fit a full-size browser window when you zoom in, up to four times the normal size.
  • Text follows your browser’s text size.

Your device’s settings

  • When your device asks for reduced motion, nothing on this site moves or fades.
  • When it asks for more contrast, labels and lines get stronger, the top bar turns solid and the sky behind the words goes plain.
  • In Windows contrast themes, the site uses your theme’s colours, and buttons keep their edges.

What we haven’t done yet

  • We haven’t had an outside accessibility audit, and we haven’t yet tried this site with a screen reader by hand. So we don’t claim that this site meets any accessibility standard in full.
  • The site has one look, light text on a dark background, whatever your device’s light or dark setting.

No overlays

We don’t use an accessibility overlay or widget. When something is hard to use, we fix the page itself.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on this site is hard or impossible to use, email us at support@verlolabs.com. You don’t need an account. We aim to reply within 5 business days. It helps to include:

  • The page, like the homepage or the Privacy Notice
  • What you were trying to do, and what got in the way
  • If you’d like, what you use, like a screen reader, zoom or voice control. You don’t have to say.

We’ll reply by email. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle the messages you send us.
