Privacy Notice
How Verlo Labs, LLC handles personal information on this website and in the messages you send us.
- Effective
- Last updated
The short version
- This site, verlolabs.com, sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, ads or trackers. It has no forms, and it loads nothing from other websites.
- Our host, Vercel, may check that a visitor is using a real browser when traffic looks automated or unusually heavy; a browser that passes keeps Vercel’s security cookie, valid for up to 1 hour, which we don’t read or use.
- Our host, Vercel, receives the standard details that come with any visit to a website, such as your IP address. The server logs we can see are kept for up to 1 day.
- If you email or write to us, we use what you send to answer you, act on what you ask and keep a record (section 4 has the full list). We keep it for up to 2 years after our last reply, unless a product’s policy or the law calls for longer (section 6).
- We don’t sell personal information or use it for advertising. You can ask what we hold about you, and for a copy, a correction or its deletion.
- Each of our products has its own Privacy Policy, which covers everything about that product, including any cookies it uses.
1. Who we are and what this notice covers
Verlo Labs, LLC (“Verlo Labs”, “we”, “us”) is a New York limited liability company. This notice explains how we handle personal information:
- on this website, verlolabs.com; and
- in the messages you send the company: email to support@verlolabs.com or privacy@verlolabs.com, and letters to our mailing address (section 12).
Each of our products has its own Privacy Policy and Terms, which cover everything about that product, such as your account and the data in it. Our products also have their own practices, including cookies, which their policies describe: what this notice says about this site applies to this site only. If you write to us about a product, its Privacy Policy applies to your message too.

Monkeys in Space uses cookies: the ones its sign-in provider, Clerk, sets to keep you logged in and to protect sign-in from abuse, including security cookies from Cloudflare, which runs Clerk’s sign-in service; a short-lived security cookie of its own while you connect a platform, which also remembers where to bring you back afterwards; if you’ve connected more than one platform, a small cookie that remembers which platform’s tab you last opened on your dashboard; and, when you’re signed in, a cookie of its own that stays in your browser for a year so your own visits, taps and shares from it don’t count. It uses no advertising or analytics cookies. Its hosting provider, Vercel, may also ask a browser to pass a quick security check when traffic looks automated or unusually heavy, on any of its pages, bio pages and links included. A browser that passes keeps a short-lived security cookie from Vercel, valid for up to 1 hour, so it isn’t asked again. We don’t read or use it. Its Privacy Policy describes them in section 1, under “Cookies”.
2. What we collect on this site
This site has no forms and no accounts. It sets no cookies of its own, has no analytics, ads or trackers, and runs no scripts of its own in your browser (the only other script is our host’s security check, described below). Everything it loads, fonts and images included, comes from verlolabs.com itself. This is true of this site only: our products have their own practices, including cookies, which their own Privacy Policies describe (section 1).
Our hosting provider, Vercel, delivers the site. As with any website, Vercel receives your IP address with every request, along with standard details your browser sends, such as the page you asked for and the kind of browser you use. Vercel uses them to deliver the page and to protect the site from abuse. The server logs we can see are kept by Vercel for up to 1 day, and Vercel keeps its own security records under its own policies.
Vercel may also ask a browser to pass a quick security check when traffic looks automated or unusually heavy. The check runs Vercel’s own script in the browser, and a browser that passes keeps a short-lived security cookie from Vercel, valid for up to 1 hour, so it isn’t asked again. We don’t read or use it.
When you follow a link to one of our products or social media accounts, you leave this site, and that site’s own privacy policy applies.
3. Messages you send us
If you email support@verlolabs.com or privacy@verlolabs.com, we get your email address, your message and anything you attach. Our email provider, Zoho, holds them for us.
If you write to our mailing address, we get your letter and anything in it, such as your name and return address. The address is a private mailbox: the service that runs it receives letters for us and may scan them so we can read them.
4. How we use it
We use personal information only to:
- deliver this site and keep it secure;
- read and answer your messages, act on what you ask, and keep a record of what we did, such as how we handled a privacy request or a report; and
- protect people’s safety and our legal rights, and meet our legal obligations.
We don’t sell personal information or share it for advertising. We don’t add your email address to a mailing list or send you marketing, and we don’t use what you send us to build a profile of you or to make automated decisions about you.
5. Who processes it for us
These service providers handle personal information on our behalf:
- Vercel
- Hosts this site and keeps its server logs (section 2).
- Zoho
- Hosts our email, including the support@verlolabs.com and privacy@verlolabs.com mailboxes.
- Our mailbox service
- Receives letters sent to our mailing address and may scan them for us.
We may also share personal information:
- if the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety or our legal rights; and
- in a business transfer, such as a merger or sale, where the buyer must honor this notice.
Verlo Labs has no parent company, subsidiaries or affiliates that receive your information.
6. How long we keep it
- Server logs
- The server logs we can see are kept by Vercel for up to 1 day. Vercel keeps its own security records under its own policies.
- Kept in our mailboxes for up to 2 years after our last reply.
- Letters
- Kept, with any scans of them, for up to 2 years after our last reply.
- Messages about a product
- That product’s Privacy Policy also applies, and it may keep some messages longer. Monkeys in Space, for example, keeps a report about a link or bio page for 5 years, as the record of what we did about it.
- Records the law requires
- If the law requires us to keep a record longer, for example to preserve evidence for a legal request, we keep it only for as long as that requirement lasts.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, how we’ve used it and who we’ve shared it with, and for a copy of it. You can also ask us to correct or delete it. Email privacy@verlolabs.com, or write to us at the address in section 12.
We’ll confirm the request comes from you, for example by answering at the email address you wrote from, and reply within 30 days, free of charge. If you live in New Zealand, we’ll reply within 20 working days, as New Zealand’s privacy law requires. If we need more time, we’ll tell you within that time, with the new deadline and the reason, and let you know you can complain to your privacy regulator about the delay. If we can’t do what you asked, for example because the law requires us to keep a record, we’ll explain why in writing and how you can challenge our decision.
Depending on where you live, you may have other privacy rights. We’ll honor them as the law requires, and we won’t treat you differently for using them.
Some browsers send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. This site doesn’t track you, and we don’t sell or share personal information for advertising, so it works the same whether or not your browser sends one.
Concerns and complaints. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, email privacy@verlolabs.com. Our privacy officer will look into it and reply. You may also be able to complain to the privacy regulator where you live.
8. Children
This site isn’t directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. Monkeys in Space is for people 18 and older. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email privacy@verlolabs.com and we’ll delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it.
9. Where it’s processed
Verlo Labs is based in the United States. Our service providers handle information in the United States and other countries: Vercel, for example, delivers this site from servers around the world, so your visit may be handled outside your country. While your information is outside your country, it’s subject to the laws there and may be accessed by that country’s courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.
10. Security
This site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), runs no scripts of its own in your browser (the only other script is our host’s security check, described in section 2) and loads nothing from other websites. Access to our email and hosting accounts is limited to the people who need it and protected with two-step sign-in.
No system is perfectly secure. Please don’t email us passwords, payment card numbers or other sensitive details: we’ll never ask you for a password. If a security incident affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
11. Changes to this notice
When we change this notice, we’ll post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also point it out at the top of this page. If this site ever starts collecting something new, we’ll update this notice before it does. You can ask for an earlier version at privacy@verlolabs.com.
